New Updates

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Brothers,

I know this site has not been updated in some time, but some new changes are coming soon. The Eta Xi House Corporation is doing some wonderful work right now in preparation for a possible new chapter house. Their age has been updated with some great new content, including a new, updated capital campaign video entitled “Building a New Tradition.”

House Corporation Update

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Brothers,

The House Corporation Board continues to meet monthly.  The main focus for now is continuing the Phase 2 Capital Campaign.  Progress with it did slow down significantly starting early last fall when the gas / bank / housing crisis hit.  It is difficult to raise money when people are paying $4 a gallon for gas, worried about their jobs, entering a recession, seeing their 401k’s become 201k’s and wondering who the next U.S. President to get us out of this mess will be.  Note that while other organizations are known to have suspended or delayed their capital campaigns, we’ve elected to continue ours, albeit has been at a slower pace.  With things looking better towards the future – the price of gas is lower than we all thought it would ever be again, the election is settled and economic recovery plans are being put in place – we are ramping up the Capital Campaign to its earlier pace.  We should all acknowledge though, that it will be harder now — but hopefully everyone will step up to the challenge at hand when approached.

RECENT ACTIVITIES
•    Detailed house plans are complete and the architects have been paid for services rendered thus far.  They look great — please make arrangements to come and review them sometime (contact Barry Kulback, see contact information below).
•    After many years of service as the active Chapter Advisor, Frazier Allen (chairman of the Capital Campaign Committee) has stepped down from that role in order to put more priority on Capital Campaign efforts.  Many thanks to Frazier for his years of service as Chapter Advisor.
•    A big welcome goes to Michael Pulley who joined the Board based on his new role as active Chapter Advisor.
•    Josh Smith has joined the Capital Campaign committee and will be taking over some of the administrative functions related to managing such a campaign.  Thanks Josh!
•    Eta Xi continues to search for a house to rent.  Pickings are slim around APSU.  In the meantime, they do have space in an apartment owned by the University which gives them some sense of ‘home’.  This won’t do in the long run – reinforcing the need to move forward with our plans for permanent housing.
•    Efforts for the ‘public’ phase of the Capital Campaign are being planned.  A brochure for mailing has been designed and is being reviewed for mass printing.  A new video is also going through final editing that includes interviews with several Brothers who have made some very nice contributions to the Capital Campaign, sharing their thoughts of why they contributed and why they felt it was important to do so.

FINANCIAL STATUS — as of 12/31/08
•    The Operating account:          $ 7,869
•    The Capital Campaign account:    $21,624

•    Capital Campaign pledges to date:

Total                $187,225
(of which $70,000 are in-kind donations)

Remaining donations needed:    $192,775

Many thanks to everyone who has participated to date — we can’t do this without your support!

NEXT HOUSE CORPORATION BOARD MEETING:
•    The next Board meeting is scheduled for Feb 9, 2009.

HOUSE CORPORATION ANNUAL MEETING
•    The Annual Meeting will be held in conjunction with the CAC / Eta Xi Brothers Day Celebration again.  Plans are still being made to hold this on Saturday February 28, 2009.

CONTACT INFORMATION
•    If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact Barry Kulback, President, Eta Xi Sigma Chi Corporation, (931)645-6374.

OTHER COMMENTS
•    The House Design committee continues their process of securing commitments for ‘in-kind’ donations of materials and services that can aid in the building of the house.  If you believe you have either, and are willing to donate, please let us know!

IH,
Barry Kulback, President
